PRINTED BY HAND
For generations, the streets of Jaipur have carried the rhythm of block printing — a tradition passed down from hand to hand, block to cloth. Every piece begins with a hand-carved wooden block and an artisan's steady hand, stamped layer by layer so no two pieces are ever quite the same. Alongside this, our screen-printed designs are hand-pulled across the fabric, ink by ink, in small batches by local craftspeople.
Our prints draw from the flora and fauna of India, staying true to motifs that have shaped Rajasthani textiles for centuries rather than reinventing them.
Together, these techniques honor a legacy of Rajasthani textile artistry, giving each garment a story, a texture, and a soul that mass production simply can't replicate.
SUSTAINABILITY
Sustainability, to us, doesn't mean sacrificing colour or character. Every garment we make is entirely polyester-free, crafted from Indian-made cotton and coloured with non-toxic dyes.
This same intention extends to our packaging, which is fully home compostable, right down to the shipping labels.
Our prints reflect this same philosophy: patterns that have been worn across India for hundreds of years, never subject to the churn of passing trends. To us, sustainable fashion need not be plain — it can be as considered, as vibrant, and as enduring as the traditions it draws from.
FACE BEHIND SVARA
Hi! I’m Kalindi,
I grew up in a Vaisnava household and have been travelling to India on pilgrimage regularly since childhood. After completing a Master's degree in Indian Philosophy, I spent several months travelling through India — uncertain about entering the corporate world, and drawn instead to a country and its artforms I have always admired. It was during this time that the idea for SVARA emerged.
